Candy Kids are a huge part of the scene! We helped shape the scene into what the standared rave meaning is...being a place of open-mindeness and and accepting ppl for who they are and being yourself and being there for the music! Not every candy kid does X, even though thats how it mostly got started. Our "fashion" serves a big part to the scene as well, and since Happy Hardcore (or Hardcore, whatever yall call it) is really happy and makes you feel happy, kandi is perfect for this Genre! I wear candy about up to my elbows and around my neck and i have my own Sesame Street raver pants.

in my experience at raves for the past 3 years there are very few brits who tend to kandi it up, and althou i do like to dress up like a twat in all my raving gear (skirts n fluffiness etc etc) i do reckon the full on kandi kid look can just look proper stupid, and yeah i know its sexist but even dumnber on guys. no insult intended to any of u but the only males ive ever spoken to who have been kandi kids have actually been gay, which i thought maybe explained it (ppl r gna start hating me now lmao)but well im only stating what ive experienced.
i reckon itd be mega funny to throw a load of kandi ravers into a drum n bass event, just to see the ructions, mucho laughs all round.

YEah gay is bad. I think we should burn all the gay people so that they can't go raving cos it would really piss me off if someone gay attended a rave! ****ing faggots! Kill em all!
Possibly one of the most narrow minded and idiotic comments I have read in a long while.

that is what happens when you use derogatory terms to negatively describe something such as style.

OMG OMG! *snickers*
Okay, anywho... If you have ever been to a Hullabaloo, then you know that Toronto, Ontario, Canada is like a heaven for kandi kids.. :)
Before I goto a hullabaloo, I normally stock up with at least 35 bracelets to give out to people without any. This ranges from security guards, cops, ems, djs, junglists, etc.. Then I have my arm full of just bracelets people have given me which I don't trade, and then on my other arm I have my tradables.. By the end of the night I am severly depleted, but hell it's a way of meeting so many people. Especially newbies to the scene.. they get even more, like flashing lights, gum, and stickers! hahah
I've been dissed, but the next day when I get emails from people thanking me, or saying I made their night.. It makes me so gosh darn happy!
So to answer your question... Yes, I trade, and if they don't have any to trade, then I give. :)

Let me start off saying that I like kandy kids and support them and their craziness, even if I haven't worn kandy regularly for over 3 years.

so who are you to jusge the kandi kids who actually do play their part in the scene and are not just in it so the can tell people that they are ravers.
So after you have been in the scene for over 30 years and have lasted and made a difference then start whingin about candy kids.
while i'm here .
Does any one want stompin lessond. <----- actually goos exercise
Bye Now....................
I often hear this, usually from an American (I realize this person is Australian) that hasn't been in the scene very long. What do you consider the rave scene? I think it involves turntables along with other elements surrounding them. If not then the first rave was really hundreds of thousands of years ago when 2 cavemen started drumming with 15 people dancing around them, eating mushrooms....but let us be realistic for a second. Hippie culture may have had a hand in forming the rave scene, but so did many other things. There are a lot of books you can read on this and I'm not an expert so I'm not going to give you a history lesson or anything (check out www.hyperreal.org for info on the origins of the music and culture), just wanted to point out that hippies (or kandy kids..which are different I think), didn't really start the rave scene, just contributed to it as it was growing.
With all that said, I hope kandy lives on forever and respect to all the kandy kids.

Then why are you using it to describe something in an unfavourable light when you have so many other words you could use?
I took as it makes people look gay as in homo sexual and you ahve a problem with that. Maybe you oughta put a little more thought about what you post as it's very easy to be misinterperated on the internet.
