Anyone here use this to make music on PS1 back in the day?
I just found 7 tapes in the attic while putting away xmas decorations all full of tunes i made at around 11 years old must've been
found an old walkman and thankfully it still worked so i popped in some batteries and had a listen...they're terrible mind but i was a kid
might have to rip all the samples from that "game" using an emulator and try and recreate them just for the lolz
wondering how many producers got their desie to produce purely from this?

There's a Discord server that contains over 900 people who either use or used the Music 2000 sample pack (it's on Archive.org) in other DAW or in Music 2000 itself. There are multiple softwares in the series, including one on Xbox, but most people used Music 2000 for Playstation 1. https://archive.org/details/music-2000-sample-library-44k-wav-rip (I don't think this sample pack removes the empty gaps at the start of some samples, but I could be wrong)

i saw that after searching on google just downloaded them, after listening to more tracks i made found a few worthy of remaking, just realized i ripped a few samples off CD's too for some of them like kicks and hoovers etc watched a few videos on youtube too, surprising how many people managed to make some really good tunes from it

It's actually surprisingly powerful in some ways since it takes full advantage of the Playstation soundchip, although a lot of the more advanced features in the sample editor are undocumented or look unnecessarily cryptic such as the low pass and high pass filters. I really don't recommend trying to produce on a real PS1 console, though, unless you are willing to wait 10 minutes to save your track progress or lose it in a software crash. DuckStation emulator is recommended (especially since it has a sound recording feature).

I loved it at the time, even if my tunes were crap it was a lot of fun to play with.
I couldn't use it now though. So fiddly and awkward to do anything, and slow as hell. I do have the samples mentioned above but I don't really do much with them.
