Has anyone like myself though of putting on an event in
or around the oxford area, or is there not enough interest
in the scence around here. I would love to do an old skool /
94-96 event with myself and if any one else would djing.
any interest in the area

I think theres a fair bit of interest around that area but more towards the D & B scene. I lived in Didcot for 15 years and there is a fair bit of interest in the hardcore scene there. There is a night in Reading occasionally though isnt there

yea thats the problem it's drum and bass every where,
thing is though when old skool school comes on in the clubs
in oxford everyone loves it, but i dont think they actually know
whats they are listening to, i think they just think it's new stuff.
which is annoying.
especially now all these cheesy remixes by flip and fill are getting in the chart.
Yeah there is reading but i just fancy putting my own event on
nothing massive.

yeah my ex was from abingdon and well EVERYONE is a drum n bass head! but yeah quite a lot of ppl I met from Didcot were into hardcore. Used to hate going to clubs in Oxford either crap commercial stuff or drum n bass!!! Hell I aint been to Oxford for 11 months now, Jeeez! Whats the name of that club thats like a cave type of thing hell i was so offit in there once i almost collapsed in the entrance bit, orrible the dnb really messed with my head like

Hello
I live in Oxford. I was thinking of setting a hardcore night up but I'm a rubbish DJ and don't know any other DJ's that spin hardcore but I could get quite a few people to go.. at least fill somewhere like the Jam Factory out anyway.
Have you played out before mate?
Where abouts do you live?

Like all the way over in holland. Il be in the uk on a regular basis staying in Didcot, oxfordshire from end of jan though

was going to say you going to the match tomorrow but i doubt your into 3 division association football though!
well there is little "scene" in Oxford (as I think you might know).
here is a list of oxford clubs and what might happen in them....
The Bridge - Mostly RnB bit of funky house, probably oxford's posh's night club if there is one?
Park End - Three rooms of music, though you want to be hitting the main dance floor for your "flip and fill favourites". Normally have a Old Skool drum and bass (jungle) set which is a pile of s... and play the same tunes week in, week out.
Jam factory- Tiny club with a totem pole in the middle. Can be anything depending on who is putting on the night. Mostly dance wise Drum and Bass.
Studio and DTM's - AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID
Coven 2- This might be the club that kate was talking about. It is a Gay club on a friday and plays hard house or drum and bass depending on the night.
Po Na Na- another club that might been seen as "Cave looking" this plays hip hop, funky latino stuff. More a chilled club.
Zodiac- is on the cowley road out of the city and has rock bands, drum and bass nights and the odd bit of progressive and funky house.
Bully (backroom) is on the cowley road and has drum and bass and all sorts of funky music normally.
Brookes also let the Source on occasion do Drum and Bass nights on the campus. I went to the last one. Goldie and Shy FX headlining. This is probably the best venue in my opinion
Also another area of interest in Oxford is that there are free parties around the surrounding city area. These play a variety of music depending who are putting them on but I can never be arsed to go to them. One of the main venues in Boars hill was set on fire. though i heard there are partys out in places like witney and didcot. Best place to find out about free partys is Avid records just off George street between Cock and Camel and Old Orleans.
(doubt there is much happening at the moment cos it's winter)

Youd be surprised mate. I lived in Harwell, Didcot for 15 years.Moved back to holland coz i had my last 200 quid stolen of me. We went down boars hill on a regular basis. I knew the guys that arranged the parties well. I used to have free houses on a regular basis at my place too. Ive been to a few of the clubs in didcot and i wasnt aware that park end played any d & b . But anyways i was a local boy so i know the scene down theire a fair bit.

Just trying to be useful... I like to help our international visitors have a good time in oxford.
yep park end do play drum and bass for about an hour I am normally in a right state at this point but tunes that you are likely to hear...
Ready or not - hype mix, natural born chillers, shy fx - move your body and a few more.
haven't been there for ages. but if you are in town or anything give me a shout... a few people know who i am.. shouldn't be to hard to find me.
