So I've been following up on the riots that happened in Northern London after a police officer shot a fellow man and killed him; where he was unarmed or not is not the point, and is debatable. Seems as though people gathered outside the police station and as tea is to a kettle the demonstration turned ugly, and riots broke out (1). Stores where looted, one even caught on fire, as well as a double-deck boss.
Now, it seems, that more riots have broken out (2), and what the BBC has dubbed "copy-cat" rioting and looting as broken out through other parts as well. "Disorder spread to Enfield, Walthamstow and Waltham Forest in north London and to Brixton in the south of the city."
What say you, Brits?

Not quite sure what you're asking. What do we think of it?

I expect that some of the arguments are valid and the usual suspects are jumping on the protest bandwagon as an excuse to smash shit up.
which makes the valid protesters look bad..
but theres definately faults on both sides, the police and the protesters
actual protesters Looting and being violent when you are protesting about being "singled out" by police for being violent theives doesnt seem like a very sensible thing to do..

It's the same old story, mob of knobheads attaches itself to a protest and totally invalidates any legitimate issues those protesting had in the first place.
Then you get others thinking 'ooh, i fancy a bit of this too' and the copycat 'riots' start.
The police don't always handle these things well, but if there was nothing to handle to start with it wouldn't happen. I can think of many countries where the police would be a LOT less restrained!

no, as in, non-protesters looting and rioting in the same or nearby areas so that the looting gets blamed on actual protestors

and then bunches of *unts who couldn't give a *uck about the guy who got himself shot, come in from other areas for a bit of 'fun', arson and robbery....
....and they cared even less about the traffic chaos that it's caused some of us on Monday morning! FFS!

Oh, I'm already aware of the Brits past riots and protesting, etc. I just thought it was funny it's happening again, and that there are people who just join to loot. I'm just waiting for Ireland to start rioting for absolutely no reason.

Is there any chance that normal protestors against the social cutments (f.e. the students) will join these riots?

pretty pathetic really..Yeah the cops shot someone..he was also a reported gang member and a dealer...so I'm pretty sure he must of done something to deserve it.
its just so sad to see the senseless destruction that has occurred so far. Sc@r has been posting photos on facebook about it..its crazy to see.
its kind of a riot without reason..kinda like in Canada what..2 months ago..over a freaking hockey game..or even Sydney with the giant race riot down there.

Agreed on the senseless rioting.
Hopefully a group of them will decide to jump off a bridge, then the rest will follow.
