Simple... because Fasthosts.co.uk decided we were "sapping too many resources which was to the detriment of other users". They consequently closed every website we had, around two years work. No discussion, no arbitration, just a unilateral decision.
Consequently , it's in the hands of our lawyers who will be seeking substantial damages.
Anyway, be warned DO NOT USE FASTHOSTS.
In the meantime we're cobbling together a new website using some personal space until we find a new home. Anyone has any ideas for space do let me know. We just need space, no CGI, strwams or anything else just tons of space (about 6GB).
Bear with me while I get at least a few sites including the bang websites up and running today.
Thank you for letting me know though.
Nick.

We've actually found out today it's because we have a "large number of copyright MP3's on our space".
Unfortunately for FastHosts, we are licensed by the BPI here in the UK (at an amazing cost I might add) to include ANY record released within the European Union/USA/Canada/Far East and Australasia on our websites for streaming to our low audience. The rest of the music belongs to ourselves entirely and according to the PRS, we don't need a licence for that because we own the copyrights.
We'll just let the suits sort it out I think. But again BEWARE, they dont like you storing MP3 files, even if they belong to you!
cheers
Nick.

if your running multiple commercial sites, it might be worth getting a dedicated server.
The hardware will set you back 1-2 grand, and the colocation in a LINX exchange in london will be about 75+ per month depending on bandwidth.
Either way, that they deleted your work, without due consultation is just shocking.

Can do it a lot cheaper than that, firstly no need to co lo, a rented dedicated will be just as good and secondly get one in the states as UK prices are stupid. The speed difference will be minimal.
Im renting one for £70 a month which has 60gb space and 400gb a month which should be plenty.
I may well even consider letting u use mine for no charge (perhaps the odd free record :-) as it's barely used
