I've never had problems with Wikipedia myself. I contribute very very occasionally. I wrote the Freeform Hardcore page as there wasn't one previously and I regularly have to delete people trying to ad themselves to the 'notable producers' list. I also added some relevant pieces to the UK Hardcore page, and created the Hardcore producers category. I think there's a good foundation, it's just for people to add pages and link them properly that the Hardcore info on there will improve.

The Hardcore section changes all the time but at least that Bouncy Techno is no longer linked to 'Scouse House' as it had been for a few years lol

Ahh, so that's why Rebuild isn't on the notable labels list.

Both of you are correct!
Rebuild isn't mentioned in the notable labels list, but in the text. By the way: Stompin' Choonz is linked to NEC and I don't understand why you don't mention HBC in the list as well (although they're mentioned in the text as well).

The thing about Wikipedia is that if you were Bill Gates and you edited your own wikipedia to say correct your birthday under their rules it would be removed because there is no source for it. If you want to change it you would have to post an article somewhere and then link to that, which seems stupid.

Smoogie, send me what you posted about Bang! I'll post it on happyhardcore.com under interviews, then link to that as the source. It *should* be creditable then, if it gets deleted I'll start my own wiki.

He didn't mean the group. I'm pretty sure he just wrote it as an effect :P

I have contacted the guy who deleted it, a 'Wikiepdian' who seems to know what is good and what is not and thus these boys now run Wikipedia. A few years back I saw loads of interesting stuff on there but now it is so controlled I find it as useful as a skate board on a road of nails!

Who remembers the good old Hardcore on Wikipedia? All tosh now!

I do quite a bit of editing on Wikipedia, and yeah, a lot of the people on there are tossers, especially the music guys. The thing is, you need good sources to back up why someone is noteworthy of having an article (also, you can use discogs :P). I agree the system is crap, but yeah, the system is what it is. For example, I only just got the article for S3RL made because of a few webpages from Executive Records. For hardcore it can be difficult because we don't really have a lot of wider exposure to collect sources from.

What article were you trying to create/edit? If you want I can maybe do it for you in a way I know it won't be flagged up by the wiki-nazis.

The discog entry is on The Sharpnel page, but as an external link, not as a reference/soruce.

Silver is right. If you insert a fact or any information, you have to cite a source or reference.

Until you share what you put on there you have and will remain to have zero credibility. By your own words you were "just having some fun", and these days wikipedia is actually become reputable, so what did you expect?

Silver: I remember the happy hardcore page. It was very good. I expect the thread is still hanging around somewhere in the depths of this forum. hmmm: http://www.happyhardcore.com/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=25872&SearchTerms=wikipedia
