I love my happy hardcore coz its got more rythem and it sounds a bit faster. Must be honest though if the new stuff keeps getting more and more like Normal hardcore i may have to opt for old skool soon

Prefer (old) Happy Hardcore. It flows smoother than Old Skool. Although
I have a fair collection of Old Skool and Drum and Bass.
I like both but prefer Happy Hardcore.

Born 2 b Hardcore !!

Well, Ireally like both gnres, and so I prefer a bit of both...or a combination of both is fine by me any-day....Although I will talk break-beat hardcore up as much as I possibly can...coz that's wicked imo .

yeah im going to combo route too sy. bit of both is the best.

i go through waves of what i like better. few months ago all i was buying was old bouncy hhc, now after listening to a few spree, cK and cloudskipper sets im going to total opposite and getting heaps of the old breakbeat hardcore. and it must be said IM LOVING IT!

i feel so much more creative when mixing it. you can cut it up more IMO, but i still love my bouncy =)

I love a good choon as much as the next one. Probably more so even. But I'm a sucker for the oldies on Remix Records, Kniteforce, Stormtrooper, Boombastic Plastic, and the likes too. A couple of my all-time favorites are "Snow In Summer" by Cru-L-T on Kniteforce, and "Hold Me In Your Arms" by Storm Syndicut on the very first Stormtrooper.

IMO Old Skool defo! But that's coz Im old enough to have raved to it! It was the starting blocks for all hardcore and D&B. I'm not saying that newer HHC is no good, just that it all came from Old Skool. There was a lot more variation in Old Skool too, not just the happy/dark thing, but choons were a lot more unique. Newer hardcore uses a lot of the same beats, loops and noises as other choons about. Old Skool tunes often sound completely different and have different drums, synths etc'. Sometimes too, the poor production made the choon have more feeling.

Besides, now I am a producer (kinda!) I find myself listening to an old choon going "How the hell did they do that?!". Atari ST's and crap samplers!

Mostly harmless...

IMO, there are completely different. I am 22, so have a fair range of old skool knowledge but not as much as others, but HHC i suppose is always there to cheer me up whenever i am feeling down.. so HHC IT IS!!

HARDCORE FOREVER
if video games affected us children, then we would all be running around in dark rooms, munching magical pills and dancing to repetitive music!
