To be honest it's not really how good you are, a demo only gets you so far... most of the time it's who you know... I recommend you get to know promotors and DJ's, give them your demo's, do them a few favours and tell them your looking for a gig, they should be able to put a good word in for you.

Right m8 ill see if i can help as probally this site site has seen me rise heh .
A demo can get ya bookings providing your good etc etc but how ive got mine is talking to promoters on websites and its how i have all my bookings this time last year i was in the same predicament as you wanting to play out etc etc i did have one chance and i wont lie i bottled it cos the dream was coming real to me and it waqs too much to take.
But I had my First gig at Throttle in portsmouth after chatting to the promoter of the night and he let me have a go on the mic etc etc abd its grown from there to knowing people and getting booked in other places and led to having at least one gig a fortnight and hoping to do me own night which will present more barriers and openings into the scene.
So demos arent the way realyu yeah they help put ur name across but but it on the web and see what that does.
Silver not in the scene??? i spose mixing a cd with kev energy isnt realy much afterall is
since 1999 ive been on special quest
i set out to do a job and to be the best
since picking up the mic i gotta rip it up
u can jump on the mic but theres no1 like the jutt

Silver is right.
It's all about who you know. My advice, as an MC, would be to hook up with a small up and coming dj who gets booked fairly often and work on your style together. Then when the dj gets booked, they'll bring you along for the ride (disregard my horribly bad MC humor. hardy har har).
But then you ask...
What if I can't find a Dj who will work with me?
The next thing that you should do, is go to every small hardcore event that you can. Make yourself known to people. Shoot the shit, talk about hardcore. Make friends with djs and promoters. And at the small events go up to the MC and ask if you can spit a flow. But know what you're going to say ahead of time so that right off the bat you have the crowds attention. I know when I'm on the mic, if the set isn't of high importance, I'll let someone get on the mic and spit a verse or 2. But I only give them one shot, because I get annoyed really easily with people who don't know what they're doing and are completely out of time with the music. And remember only ask once to get on the mic. Don't keep pestering the MC's and DJ's to give you a chance if they say no. It's really a pain is the ass trying to do your job when someone keeps tapping you on the shoulder mid flow asking to have the mic. This will most likely put you on the MC's shit list and you might not get another chance.
I hope this helps.
And to be honest, a demo isn't really gonna get you anywhere.
I'd start making friends in the hardcore scene asap
