Pirates Plead Guilty
12/09/2003 12:00:22
Three Sydney men have pleaded guilty in the world's first criminal charges relating to online music piracy.
They face up to five years jail - and possibly a 60-thousand dollar fine.
They're due to be sentenced on November the 10th.
Meanwhile, a 12-year-old girl who was among the first to be sued by the Recording Industry Association of America over illegal downloads is off the hook, after her mum agreed to pay 2-thousand dollars US to settle the lawsuit.

Wait, what's this? Where'd you get that tidbit? As I understood it she was sharing like, full CDs from major, current artists. The RIAA cracked down on someone for... robbing the cradle...?

Yeah, her Mum paid something like £18 to join this site, and then they downloaded tonnes and tonnes of nursery rhymes!!!! Apparently, they thought it was all legal as they had to pay for them!!
