the trance side to hardcore hasn't had it's day yet,and if things are going to carry on the way they are it'll be around for a fair bit longer. while the big names produce all their v. trancy sound (not a slate i like it), i've started to listen to more and more up and coming talent, and none of us can disagree that these guys are the way forward.
many artists still put the trance element into their tracks but are all trying something different. it's all spiraling in different directions, giving us dj's a variety in sets and soon they'll be hitting the cd's (some already have) adding variety to the cd's as well. someone somewhere will go for something on a cd they don't already go for.
it's all up from here and i can almost guarantee next year will seriously boom. it'll be like back in the day when dj's,mc's and producers will be in yer face from all angles.

I remember listening to trance when it sounded more like 140 bpm freeform...
I wouldn't worry really, most hardcore is hardcore...and though some of it may get too trancey, and it's getting a lot of exposure right now, it will change as people who like it now will get sick of it.
Hopefully.

Sorry if someone has already made this point but i read the 1st 2 pages n it seemed like everyone was pointing forward similar arguments so i skipped the rest.
Firstly i don't think hardcore is becoming to trancy, there are so many artists prodcuing different styles. From Luna C thru to the RBC crew loads of styles are catered for nowadays. If you listen to a tape pack from 96 there was actaully a lot less variety or so it seemed. u either had techno, jungle or happy hardcore. So in variety terms the scene is much healthier in my opinion.
I recently read a topic on USH concerning lack of variety in bookins at events. I think this is where the true problem lies. The majority of ravers don't have the internet so the only time they get exposed to hardcore is when they go to events or buy tape packs/cd's. If people like Slammin are only gonna book big name trancey style dj's ( Breeze, Styles, Hixxy etc) then alot of ravers aren't being exposed to enough variety in hardcore, thus resulting in topics such as this.
I don't think anyone on this site could admit to not enjoying a good Hixxy, Breeze, Styles, or UFo set, it's just you don't wanna hear the same set 5 times in a nite, or in a tape pack or cd collection. The key in keeping hardcore interesting is in keeping it varied.
Many people will argue that the scene was at it's best in 96 when hhc was at it's peak, but if you look 3 years later when hhc was still being produced in a similar style the scene was dead. This was because hhc wasn't being played in the same room as jungle anymore or gabber or any other style at big events and people got bored quite quickly, if we don't start incorparating a new and/or different variety of styles into the main rooms at big events again soon, people will again get bored with the 'new' trancy style n it the scene runs the risk of becoming the steaming pile of stagnant cow dung many people will argue that it was in 99.

Its just sad to see how most of the well respected happy hardcore dj's r now just ripping trance songs and speeding it up a bit and adding in a beat or 2 there and then they call it there own track. Maybe things r starting to turn out like thunderdome. where its all just mass produced and not much thought goes into the work. Well either that or people r running outa ideas. ANy how some of the remixes do sound goood though. like breeze and styles - your love shines through ) which is by kayama painters i think ?

No Breeze & Styles did It first I'm pretty certain, it's just they did a trance version before a hardcore version.

Couldn't agree more. Case in point Enigma on saturday. Even with the tiny number of us that turned up it was still the best rave i've been to in ages. A huge variety of hardcore styles really opened my eyes. You just don't get that at big events, just the same old dj's playing the same old trance style tunes (I don't wanna hear the same tune 3 times a night, even if they play remixes!). I thought it was that good on saturday that I didn't really dare sit down or go in the chill out room cos I didn't want to miss the hardcore. MORE NIGHTS LIKE ENIGMA... (but with a few more people!)
And to answer the question, I think trancey hardcore's still got a bit of life in it yet, but only if the dj's keep a bit of variation in their sets, I've started to hear people grumbling at raves that the big name lineups don't get them excited like they used to...

IMO the only diffrence between the trance version and the hardcore version is the speed...

Breeze & Styles
btw, the Q-Tex - I Remember tune on that cd -> Quality,
hope theres coming/is a Hardcore version...
Edit: Oh and the trance version of Turn Up The Music -> pure crap
theres a diffrent vocalist, and lets just say she sounds "shallow", the original
was MUCH more emotional...

Big Fan or not, delicate trance is what our electronic technoligy in music is making today, soon there will be something new, maybe similar, could be different.. Like Fazza was saying, whats better then a big build up into a powerfull drop, gets the whole crowd pumping hard.. How is hardhouse goin to get much differnt without slight taste's of trance.. IMO

see i'd disagree with you there, with every track seeming to have a big build and a big breakdown i feel the music becomes predictable, and can become boring. i personally like more randomness, that's what really gets me excited, if i don't know whats coming up next, it keeps me interested.
or maybe i've just got a short musical attention-span.
