I have recently bought a region 2 ntsc dvd (didn't know they existed until now) and I play all me dvds through a pal ps2, the picture on the dvd is black and white and should be colour. I have been told to get a pal to ntsc converter but its £12 which just to watch one dvd seems a bit expensive - any tech-heads out there have any suggestions???

The star in my name isn't there for nothing....

the playstation2 isn't designed for playing dvds.. i've heard way too many stories of them not playing dvds properly.

ntsc is US thing, but most european players play them, But R2 dvd shouldnt be ntsc, that sounds just stupid... Take the DVD back to the store and ask your money back...

I don't think it's your playstation, it's your tv!

Old TVs usually cant handle ntsc signals, however new all new TVs can do this. I've seen this alot of times and the solution has always been to watch it on another tv.

A dvd simply puts out the signal it's the tv that has to process it. I have never used a ps2 as a dvd player, but I dont see why it should be difrent from all other dvd palyers.

So, to summarize, buy a new TV!!

Hope it helps!

Cheers that is such a viable option for me, no unfortunately I am too broke to afford a new tv, so I guess I will have to take dvd back
and Whispering, I thought it wasn't possible, but it clearly says its ntsc on the dvd cover, and as it plays at all on me ps2 it must either be r0 or r2, and again it says its r2 so I think its right.
I will get a lead that says it coverts ntsc signals to pal signals and see how that goes, but cheers for the help - especially you menion
