just saw the NYE fireworks at London, holy SHIT! absolutely amazing.
kicked the ass off any fireworks celebration i've ever seen (and I went through 5 July 4th celebrations!)
music selection was also spot on too - don't think I ever heard dance music played at any USA firework shows ;)
so proud right now - if the UK gov can put something as good as this together for NYE this year I can't wait to see what they have planned for they olympics! Underworld are music directors for the opening ceremony!

^some of the transitions were quite fun...besides I'd take poor transitions over constant country and alternative rock which I was subjected to back in the states!

10 times better than the millennium fireworks that london had
and yes I agree the whole old rock and country songs for every new years is just plain old. I remember one year they threw in some alice deejay and vengaboys, but I can't remember what city that was.
I'm also anticipating the opening ceremonies for London as well. It should be a good one, considering that the UK has a rich history and culture, definitely will do better than what Vancouver did for their opening. Although London's Welcome Ceremony from Beijing's Closing Ceremony was a bit of a disappointment, but no doubt the Opening ceremony will be nothing like it.

Agreed, though the fireworks displays I've seen in the states normally have more pop music, as opposed to alternative. I don't want to kick off the New Year with Katy Perry or Lady Gaga, sheesh.

was already planning on watching the opening ceremony but that makes me pretty excited!
most of the firework displays I've seen the last several years have been set to classical music, as in a live orchestra were playing and they have howitzers firing off too

The people in the crowd probably didn't even notice that the fireworks went in time with the music lol, the fireworks would have been too loud :P

LOL that is epic. Sounds like a bomb.
Edit: I had thought that it was actually just a really incredibly powerful firework but it seems it was just in close proximity. Clearly i had no idea how far away fireworks were when they normally explode.
