How comes over America you can be 16 to go to a rave but over here in the UK you gotta be 18?? Why don't the UK have the same rules as america in going to raves? like you gotta be 18 to go into the drinking area, just like what the americans have.

Yeah, you get a lot of 14 year olds at raves over here.
I'd hate it if you had to be 21 to drink legally over here.
we get the best of both situations really, we can drink at 18, and you could easily get into a rave at 15 years of age.

Here we have no drinking age & no age limit for parties.
Except for the occasinal overcomercialized event, when you have to be 18. But that almost never happens.

Around here, the raves are either all 18+ or sometimes 21+, but at the all ages ones you get...all ages. I'm 15 (yes, yes, young), and we have a 40-some year old raver here, too.

all raves in st.louis are listed as 17+, but age restrictions are rarely ever inforced..i've seen an 11 year old rolling at a party about a year ago... which to me is extremely disturbing, but whatver I guess...
I personally like the idea of age limits

I think it has something to do with the govenment (in the UK) not wanting kids to be exposed to raves. They tried to ban raves all together in like 93/94 you know. The drinking age in every state in the US is 21, and the rave age varies...it's usually 17 and up, but in many areas of the south there are no age limits (Arkansas, Oklahoma, Austin, Houston, etc). Here in Dallas there really aren't too many raves and all the shitty clubs are either 18+ or 21+

in califorina the age limit varies from 17 to 21+ but if you have money and can pay the bouncer like 50 bucks you can get in to any rave to me even though I'm 15 I still think the age resriction is a good thing

In Australia, all raves are 15+ wich dosnt say much for ages restrictions considering that majority of ravers are 16-21 anyway. One thing I did see at Hyperspeed last year was a little kid running around off his head.. looked no more then 10 years old..cruel

1st: You're 15 and work at Hot Topic?
2nd: How do 15 year olds get $50 to bribe bouncers with anyway? OH YEAH, I guess by working at Hot Topic. More power to you mate.
Shaker: I would think the majority of the raving massive in the UK would be over 18 anyway, with a few exceptions of course. Even here in Texas most of the people in the scene are between 19 - 30 with many of them being on the higher end of the range. That could have something to do with raves dying here a few years ago, but that's just one hypothesis.

I live in maryland in the d.c. area, and pretty much all events are 18+,some 21+. I used to be young and HATE the age restrictions.... until i grew up and learned that maybe people below 18 can't handle some of the things (unfortunetly) rampant in todays rave culture. Im not stereotyping, but at alot of parties i go to... i expect to see drugs, people messed up on drugs.. and an environment that people need to be very nature to handle. It might be 8, or 14, it varies from person to person. If i start throwin parties, I would like them to be all ages... unity is great.....but theres so much of a liability issue for minors in USA. If anythign happened to a minor at a party... the promoters azz would be on the line. If kids are really that into partying and aren't 18, maybe they can start promoting or get tight with the staff to get in... but its most deinftley a liability/insurance issue (just another bad offshoot of our capitalist nation =(
