jambo: true, but if you were the promoter, you'd definately see the reason for booking the bigger acts/djs....

if you can book 20 well known, popular djs, why would you book 15 and 5 upncomers???

leave upncomers to the smaller parties (i myself am one of these) and let us climb through the ranks....

Anyone, with enough work, can get to a certain level. The superstar level takes WAY more than DJing... it takes unprecidented dedication to the scene and the ravers, but to get to a 'famous' level... or at least a level where you're playing well big parties is all a matter of hard work, time, and devotion.

You have to understand that in order to make any profit or to break even, especially in the UK, you have to have a line up that sells. The only reason that promoters book big names is because they know that it sells. Perhaps not so much in other regions of the world, but especially in the UK, even big names don't even break even. Promoters simply can not take the risk. It's a pitty, I agree. But piercing the market in the UK is a difficult task.

It would b nice if they gave a new dj the chance 2 the opening hour of an event, at least it would give a dj a chance 2 get noticed

If you are an upknown DJ you will not get a booking on your talent as no one knows you, I recommend helping out at some of the events and get to know some of the promotors of the events, then hit them up for a DJ gig.

You start your way from the bottom and work your way up.

Dont know what is like overseas, but here it usually takes 30mins to get inside, and at bigger events about an hour. I almost always miss the first set, not on purpose of course

I know it's D&B and not HHC but I know for sure that One Nation does have either an arena for new talent or a certain time they can play. I don't see why they cant do the same for HHC raves too.

Exactly. They could play the early sets or in the little room! LOL! If it was advertised on the flyers (Like One Nation do) ppl would know what to expect and wouldn't be too disappointed if they weren't as good as the big DJ's.

Besides if your good enough to get a chance to play at a rave, your demo for the promoter must have been to a level that's good enough. I doubt anyone would let some joker who has only been mixing for a week go up on stage at the main arena and slaughter some HHC anthems!!!

Mostly harmless...

New DJs should be given a chance not really at a big event though think of something a bit smaller like an internet radio show or something, then if they're any good the can build up from there.

i actually think within this scene up and coming dj`s actually get quite a few opportunites:

DJ`s like
D-ice and Reality
Skecthy and compulsion
Voltage etc have been involved in big events

and yes the larger events have to be made up of the big names as no1 want to pay £25 to see some1 they have never heard of

catch me at:

Fusion vs GBH 29th March.
Divide by Zero@madjacks, Chip, Wilts 10th may (b2b with Voltage).
Hardcore Heaven,24th may, The Sanctuary, in the bus, 3-4!
Synthetic 20june, The Bus Stop, Plymouth 1-2
