Im probably gonna get burned for this but I hate people who have an experience and them suddenly love dance music. To those of you to whom this applies ..you will be found out.

any comments?

i'm assuming he means going to a party, and having a good time.

but i've been listening to electronic music before i knew what a rave was... so i don't think this really applies to me. ive been into it for about... ...7 years now i think...

but yes, i do find that extremely annoying when people latch onto it in a trendy manner.

Oh man, I hope I didn't brain my damage...

Yeh, i do agree with Eddie, but if the dance music you are talking is hhc, then you have got to remember that many people have never heard this type of music, therefore they will have little experience. Fair enough, if someone slags off hhc and then decides to like it because everyone else likes it then they deserve a slap IMO...

...Fortunately for me I have been into hhc since I was a little boy, so i dont think this applies to me.

I got into the music way before I ever entered a club. I don't think theres really anything wrong with "having an experience" and then getting into dance music though. The music evolved because of the clubs. Essentially dance music as it is today was "invented" as a way of enhancing the effect of various chemicals. So if it wasn't for those early pioneers "following the white rabbit down into Wonderland" then we wouldn't be where we are today.

i dont c what the difference is between having an 'experience' at a party where u hear the music n decide u love it, or sitting at home hearing the music 4 the 1st time and loving it???
however u 1st hear it is gonna b an experience, dont c why it matters if uve been raving n started 2 like it...thats fair enough!

im new to hardcore. very new. bothered. a mate showed me a tape, i went "yeah thats cool" i bought a tape pack, went "yeah thats really cool" then went to slammin vinytl and went "yeah yeah yeah this is realling effing cool." i havent been into it from the start. im not listening to it cuz its "trendy" considering many people laugh at me for listening to it. i listen to it cuz i like it. so i might not be "truly hardcore" however you want to define that, i'm probably not even a "real raver" however you want to define that. but i love the music, i love the people and i love the scene. i dont appreciate being made to feel that i'm an inferior hardcore follower purely because i didnt hear abut it until recently.

you're newer to this forum than i am, but i'm not going to say "you're new, you came on here and liked it and stayed, i was here before, sod off" because thats why many music scenes are crap despite the music being good. i had an "experience" and its made me better for it, i like dance music now, i have new friends, im happier because the music is happier. ive started dj'ing because i respect djs and would like to be able to do what they do. but im bored of simple mixing already, so im starting to get into turntablism. dont tell me, ill go on turntablism site and be ripped for being new. just because im new doesnt mean im less than you. i may not be able to recite every release by every major hardcore label ever, or even tell you who was behind some of the most popular choons in hardcore, but i love the choons and i love the labels and as far as im concerned that makes me just as hardcore as anyone else.

and chrysostoumo, ive loved hardcore since the first day i heard it. i just heard it after you. so sod you too.

what really pisses me off is people who cant hack a rave without pills, or dont like hardcore then say they like it because their mates like it. but unless you know these people personally you cant honestly say that havent really started liking it. how can any of us know that you havent got into it in the past two months, and have decided that the way to gain respect is to diss other n00bs and make yourself seem older and wiser.

dont pass judgement on anyone unless you know the whole story. perhaps people who didnt like hardcore slowly began to realise how good it is. i never used to like drum and bass, and used to rip my mates for listening to it, but then i began to like it as i heard more and more. does that make me a bad person. by saying an "experience" you mean heard it once and loved it, but many have also said they dont like people who get into "cuz their mates get into it" HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO GET INTO IT FOR CHRISTS SAKE?!?!?!

There has to be a point when most of us realised that 'dance' music is for us - is that a bad thing?
I'm 32 and i've been with the dance scene for about half of those years but i can't see a problem with people who join a scene that's already going strong.

There are a lot of young guys on this site who are every bit as passionate about the music as i am but lack of knowledge or experience shouldn't go against them.

If I suddenly decided i like line dancing i wouldn't expect to be shunned by the people who have liked it for years!!

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you

Eddie m8 ur talkin absolute pish. i myself have been into hardcore for about seven years and have been dj'ing for about 4. I can rememer times in the not so distant past where i couldnt even buy new hardcore releases in glasgow and had to scour the 2nd hand record shops just to follow the scene i love. But does this make me more of a raver than anyone else or am i more entitled to listen 2 hardcore...not in my opinion anyway. about 6 months ago i brought 1 of my non raving friends to a dyewitness gig and guess what? he loved it and started to borrow my cd's, then progressed to buying his own and constantly checks the internet to find out when the nxt big event is. the fact is it doesnt matter how u get in2 the music as long as ur in2 it. what i cant respect however is ppl who genre hop just because that particular type of music is "in" at any given time just so they can appear trendy

in controll in effect so what the heck, rock rock rock the discotek
