Stylus, you live in england, and you bought a focus, ok, i think i have to hurt you really bad. Dont you know that there are leteraly thousands of cars much better than the focus, and for the price you paid for a new focus (8000) you could buy a used car, thats faster, better, and louder than the focus? Not to mention cheeper inchurance? I dont know what you were thinking, but you have axcess to all the greats, Subaru STi's, Lancer Evos, not to mention Civic type R's, and all the other honda stuff. Then there are the Nissian's, dont even get me started, FD's and FC's.......shit how do you buy a focus? I might like cars way to much, but a focus come on? You must have a good reason for getting it.

When I post, i shoud really be sleeping.

Over here the focus is a good car - you might get the crappy U.S. version but the U.K focus has been the most popular car by far for the last 4-5 years.

As for getting a faster second hand car - all well and good but insurance for younger drivers on those sorts of cars makes them impractical to own and almost impossible to run and don't even pretend that you can get an Evo or an Impreza with cheaper insurance than a focus.

I have a car not much slower than those and everything about it is cheaper, plus i know that it hasn't been thrashed to f**k by some tool trying to impress the birds.

I tried to get my hands on a Focus recently (an RS) but they're harder to get hold of than rocking horse shit!

Still, a tarted up ST 170 might persuade me to trade in my beast!!

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you

The Focus is a stunning car. My mum has one, it's got 17 inch momo X1 alloys, lowered by 40 mm, RS roof spoiler, front bumper spoiler and shaun the sheep looking out the back window! Apprently it's a one off that the dealers do now and then but the car certainly makes heads turn. Only problem with it is that it's only a 1.6, still quicker than my car though!

My car is a Saxo, it's only a 1.1 so it doesn't set the world on fire in terms of performance but you can't go wrong with £13 taking you to Birmingham from South Wales and back again! (that's a total distance of approximately 200 miles and doing 80 mph for safe overtaking to.)

Edit: £750 with your dad as the main driver? Bad idea! With your old man as the main driver you're not building a history of no claims, meaning when you come to be insured on a car with you as the named driver you'll have the same premium as someone who's just started driving. I was gonna do what you did with my mum, since I wanted a Saxo VTS (Group 14 insurance aswell) but when I found this out I knew I would regret it in the future.

Bah you guys got it all easy, in Japan we have to pay for:

1. The car (of course).
2. 3rd party medical insurance
3. Registration tax
4. Pollution tax (depends on how big your engine is)
5. Car tax (the right to own a car)
6. Car licence tax
7. Parking costs (OMG!)
8. Sales tax

Optional:
1. 3rd party property insurance.
2. Full insurance on your car (if you crash it or whatever).

Plus you have to get the car fully serviced every 2 years and any parts that are likely to break within 2 years have to be replaced... which is expensive most of the time.

You can get 3 year old second hand cars here for free, but then you have to pay for all of the above which adds up to be more than the car is worth (that's why they are free).

haha unlucky silver. here we gotta buy the car, road tax, at least 3rd party insurance (but most cover fire and theft and all), MOT (all them are annual payments apart from the car itself) parking, and in london there's congestion charges. then there's petrol which is an absolute rip off
