That used to happen a lot. I remember going to hardcore parties and hearing the same tunes 5 or 6 times. Now I hear much more variety in DJ's sets.

Yes i think theres a lot more tunes being produced now too compared to a couple of years ago. Seems it all went a bit dead then

True. Thats why in 99-2000 hardcore went a bit stale. But I cant say a bad thing about hardcore today. It is fantastic. I love it all! From Gabba to the trancy stuff. Its great. I rekon the reason why Freeform and Nu-energy has become much more popular is because of the tracy influence in hardcore today.
Just like Daveo said "Personally i think you need to get with the times. Hardcore can and only will get better".
Quite right mate!

Yes i am unhappy that the old stuff is being fazed out
But its happening for a reason
Happy Hardcore is gradually evolving as times are changing & peoples taste in music isn't the same as it was in the early 90's
I think the new stuff is pretty good though as atleast its being played in clubs again & more events are being done, which gets more people involved in the scene,so then others can begin to appreciate Happy Hardcore like I have for the past 10 years
Sorry for waffling on but I had to get it off my chest
Thanx!!!

I have a carton of milk (happy hardcore) and a couple of beers (trance) at home, but I don't mix them. Why? Because it would be awful. Just because they're mixable doesn't mean you should mix them. I really don't like this newer, trancier, happy-sound. I'm sorry, but one of the worst tunes I've heard in the last year is "Forever With Me" (DFM001) by Fracus & Gavin G feat. Paula. I wouldn't touch that with a 50-foot pole.

OK, umm, well the evolution of hardcore is part of the music. Some of the happy stuff would sell, but i agree with silver that most of the happy stuff wouldnt. I have heard some new stuff that is definately different compared to what is out there now. Will it sell? Who knows, but its damn good. Go back to around 96 and listen to songs like wanting to get high, and the jump ahead and listen to a song like hardcore hustler. Ther are quite different, yet i love both of them. The times are changing, just like dance music. Hardcore will continue to evolve, there will also be casulties to dj's and record companys (as there already have been). But the gener will continue to survive as long as we are here to support it.
When I post, i shoud really be sleeping.

I think what you are referring to is the "cheese" not the fact that its happy. because frankly most happy hardcore tracks are cheesy but the actual lyrics are anything but happy. And if you think that all the stuff being produced now is not happy/cheesy then you aren't looking hard enough. Check out labels like Rave N Beats (songs like still love you, neverending story, heart break, should I, and Missing You....umm basically anythign on this label), Raving Mad (the remix of heaven by the mckinzie brothers, all I want), Master Wax (konomama, crazy little fingers, and Till the day *choon*), ATM(both their releases...the 3rd is comming out soon I believe). Check those out and tell me it aint happy...
But also be open to the new sound of hardcore, I will admit it took me some time to get used to it, but its top notch production and has really helped our scene grow. Change is good.

Uhmm... yeah? What else would it be? =)
I love the cheese. I worship the cheese. Stompy is probably my favorite producer.

That was a lie. Fav producer is Jimmy J and no one else. Stompy goes second.

happy 2b hardcore chapters are fast?! when did that happen? =P
you know what's funny, the actual "happy" hardcore turned off more people from hardcore =P
if you don't like what you hear then quit your bitching and start producing
maybe it's time you took your face out of your ass and realized that things progress and not everyone is going to like the change (ie you). hardcore took a turn for the worse around the turn of the century and I believe there are a lot of people out there trying to better the scene once again.
There are a lot more labels poping up with new people being brought in producing and djing hardcore. Many of the old producers are coming back to produce hardcore as well.
I'm not saying you have to like everything out there. I still have trouble listening to some RB stuff but ya know I'm not going to sit there and put down the whole scene because of one certain label/sound coming out. I appreciate what people like hixxy and ufo are doing even if I don't like the production style.
