You'd be well received. It's a magical place.

If it helps sway you, this is where I'm heading next. It's an island off the south west coast of the Mekong Delta. It is quite literally the vision of everyone's idea of paradise:

And to everyone else:

a) You're more than welcome to come and stay with me in Vietnam (I sleep naked, bare that in mind)

b) Thank you for all your responses. I feel like I know you all so much more now! Some very, very interesting things you all do!

Oh wow, you lucky lucky bastard. And I'm not just saying that either; that kind of location is exactly where i want to be spending my time. It is the ultimate to me. If i actually had a passport and it was affordable to get there/live there i would totally go.

I am incredibly lucky mate. And I try to remind myself of it ever day. I have great parents, and they're fairly well off. So as soon as I started working I was able to save money quite well without having to pay rent at home. I fcuked up my education though - I was always bright, but never applied myself. I developed a bit of a drink problem in college and only got one AS-Level after two years. Not even one actual A-Level, just a half. I bummed around for 9 months, then my cousin - Sales Manager - got me a six month temp job at her company. Stayed for 5 years and had multiple promotions. My dad forced me to save from a young age, so when I felt I was being drastically underpaid I said "Fcuk you" to my company and booked a one-way ticket to Vietnam, for a year.

And that's the story of my adult life.

Well done for not comforming to society. You did what you wanted and now you're living a way in which most people only ever fantasise about because you can. Sounds like a success if you ask me. Not many would agree though.

Ha ha, well thanks man.

I've thought about it a lot in my mind, and I don't know whether it's a case of not conforming, or whether it's a case of simply not having the motivation to work - and subsequently delaying employment, despite it being inevitable, for a year. I just thought "When are you ever going to get the chance to bum around for an entire year again? Never. So let's do it now.

Yeah Jay, that's a way to go!
You remind me of some former israeli soldiers, I have seen in a tv-documentary not long ago. After their national service, they told their old life to f**k off and went to a very long journey to Goa doing drugs, meditation & other spiritual stuff, party, etc.

I'm in my first year of uni doing some IT course and getting danged decent cash thanks to grants and bursaries that I don't even have to pay back. It's all gonna be gone very soon though, I can't stand uni and will not be carrying on, it's a ridiculously isolating experience and if I am brutally honest I don't think I have ever met so many people with their head up their own arse, I have been blanked so many times it's unreal.

I used to be good at IT but Uni totally killed my interest in computers full stop but it's the only thing I'm really qualified for. I did get loads of experience and knowledge stuff under my belt when I was at college but I just really don't wanna work with them...however I haven't got a clue what else there is I can do out there that will bring in the dough I am still in shock that I have to go and work, I'm still in shock that I'm nearly 20 years old, I think of myself as like 12 and don't really think about stuff like work or employment or jobs...it sort of sounds fun though, I would love to be like doing something really interesting and cool but I dunno what's out there really.

I wish I could work for like cartoon network or Nicktoons or something but I don't have anything to offer them at all apart from knowledge of cartoons
