I agree that drugs are part of the culture, a part of the scene. But when I say I love hardcore to other people, they're like "so you rave and take drugs and that?".
I'm not cool with that stereotype.

CandyAss, sorry, for another time I will use real scientific research and statistics instead of just making $hit up. I just said what was on my mind, saying my opinion. And I don't make things up, I say what I see around and read in newspaper everyday, when statistics show a lot of times a different thing. I said "drugs is the nr1 killer" as an expression. And ppls opinion are also important then only statistics, I appreciate an opinion more then what statistics can say, cause an opinion can say more about a person about how they think and feel about a subject. Every opinion matters and none can be called sh*t. There are diseases that kill more, but diseases are unintentional and drugs not.
I am currently studying to become a teacher and in research I do on youth I can see a lot more problems then only drugs, problems that need more attention then druguse/ abuse. In interviews with students and teachers and school-counselers. In a class of 20 students, its almost sure that 90% of the students come from a divorced family or an abusive family, etc. To me, were children are not taken care off is the central problem. This child wont attend to school and wont pay attention in class, he will never finish school or get a diploma, a lot of them will sloaf around and end up on the long run in criminal activities. Not to say that kids who grow up in divorced families all end up like that and grow up wrong. In fact in some of my findings its best for some kids, cause in the environment they were living first was really bad.
I know I got a bit off topic but what you gonna do....
Still, drugs are bad and kill/damage your braincells...thats some cientific research, right?
I cant say anything though, its your braincells...

In a way, I agree with you in that drugs cause many serious problems to the health of people and society. But one of the first things I learned in sociology in regards to drugs is that there is no such thing as a "bad" drug...just bad utilizations of it. No substance is good or bad, it all depends on how it is used. I don't think drugs are good at all, but I do believe people should have the choice, as you say, to kill their own braincells. Any rational citizen can see that the current Drug War is causing more problems then it helps.
That statistic of 90% of children coming from a broken or abusive home is a huge overestimate. First of all, you shouldn't group those two things together (domestic violence and divorce). As you said single-parent households are an obstacle, but it doesn't always negatively affect the child, while abuse almost certainly will. Anyway, if you're talking about American statistics then the real accepted number is more around 50% of all marriages will end in divorce, and somewhere between 15 - 35% of children are abused, depending on what's considered abuse (physical, mental, neglect) and what demographic you're looking at (poor people abuse more then upper-class people). The percents for other industrialized nations are lower then that.
Opinions are important, but they aren't always correct. Empirical research will always be a more valid source to use as judgement, though many issues do require application of opinion. Anyway, I'm gonna' get back to discussing hardcore and maybe find a social science board or something to write stuff like this in.

drugs are bad mmmkay?
hahahaha but seriously, you are basing this on conversative print media who share pretty much the same uneducated view as you have.
eating maccas is bad for you, and heart problems as a result of obesity are quite common as well. as is being in the sun and getting skin cancer. people make a choice whether they will use drugs responsibly and safely or otherwise.

I don't think he was talking to you. Anyway, I'm not saying you're uneducated either, but raving since 92 is not grounds to base an education on...college and/or readings would be more like it.

I dont know about anyone else but if you keep E special and only flip at parties once and awhile, maybe with a special girl theres nothing wrong with it at all. It won't cause any permenant damage. Its when you flip two or three times a week over the period of five years that the damage comes from. I know, I'm damaged. I've been going to raves since 98 and goin hardcore the whole time, I finally stopped flipping pills 6 months ago and am only now relizing the damage. I've been depressed since the last time I flipped and I'm not like that.
Drugs will **** you if you let them, so keep them special and don't let them.
From someone in the know.
