Just wanna add, oldskool mainstream Ecchi was very perverted and less discreet than modern Ecchi.

Im sorry for bringing this up again, but this really freaking bugs me.
Guys, where the hell did you see or hear that anime is so sexual? And what "gigantic tits" are you talking about? Is it that you only watch Ecchi and Hentai? There are even Ecchi stuff without gigantic tits!
Only thing you can find there are "ideal girls" as beautiful girls in beautiful outfits and with colored hair, without gigantic tits in the very most of the cases! ARRGH What's wrong with this perverted world?!
That is the art of anime! There are many more sexual stuff and in the real art!

Dude, you have nothing to avoid. The super-perverse of anime scene is a bunch of crap. Also, you can never rely on genres themselves, they're too various.
Shounen stuff are anime made primarily for male population, and they are very various. Shounen includes any subject a guy would be interested in. There are also Shounen with great love-stories, and since you're a guy you'd sure like them. If you want something more mature for guys (eventhough Shounen can be mature too), watch Seinen. Problem is, mature stuff are usually more "slow".
The only thing you should really avoid is Hentai and, if you dislike perverse, hardcore Ecchi/Fanservice. And about other stuff, visual novels - they're mostly Hentai, but their anime remakes are not.
And I have to say this: AnimeNewsNetwork - EXTREMELY UNRELIABLE genre classification. Seriously, there's a Fanservice-less comedy-Ecchi and they say Fanservice, there's Sci-Fi and they forget to mention it, there's Yuri for lesbians and they also forget to mention it.

Anime pushes my imagination much more than any other film both visually & musically.
I'm not sure if it's because the boundaries are endless as it's mainly drawings or mabey it's the fact that the Japanese have completely different outlook on the world compared to the west. Either way it's just magical.
...& anyone who thinks anime is only about young school girls with big tits really needs to open their minds a little, do some research of their own & see just what their missing out on.

You like to make assumptions, young one. I watch Anime that is mostly on TV not "Hentai" or "Ecchi", but you will easily try to point out that I probably do, when you know nothing about me or my watching habits. I just get sick and tired when I DO see it, because sometimes even though it's an undertone I just feel it's unnecessary, but that's my opinion.
