^^^ i know this guy and on the odd occasions that i do talk to him he always says how he loves playing with his xbox? ... is it really that good?

I think you'll find that anyone who owns one of the latest generation consoles and actually plays games on it (as opposed to me, who just uses it as a DVD player) will be very ... *ahem* enthusiastic about it. The graphics capabilities are just phenomenal, and they're set to get even better.
I'm still waiting for more XBox owners to start building emulated pseudo-XBoxes with like 3x the power of the retail version before I jump onto that bandwagon (the Xbox being basically nothing more than a de-tuned Microsoft PC).

Right hear Me Now....
X-box has already been moded so that you can run Linux on it (ha in your face Bill) also if the PS3 is gonna have a cpu more powerful than a P4 then surely the price will have to over £300 for the console alone... not a good move...If this chip were to be more powerful I bet the core processing speed may be higher yet there lower all the other important things such as the FSB & L2 Cache of the chip.
Besides A Top-Notch PC will always be better at running games in all departments..i.e. Graphics, Speed, Size of game. A decent PC is always superior to a console...The only current problem is that...Consoles seem to be getting the games lately whereas Pc's aren't!!!!!!

For sheer Gameplay buy a Sega Dreamcast.......oops too late:( They are brilliant consoles as was every sega machine before it. even if it can't compete wiv the newer consoles. My bro has a PS2 and my 2 sis have an xbox n the PS2 blows the xbox away in every department

I'm not a fanboy, but u guys dnt seem to give the xbox any credit where it is due :P and yes a pc is always better, hence why I have one, but the upgrading gets tiresome occasionly.
but yeah.. I'll just *try* to drop it coz the xbox does have it's strenghs and yes of course it has weaknesses. . .

The Xbox and PS2 remind me of the N64 and PS1. N64 had the power but lacked a large gaming catalogue while PS1 lacked power (in comparison to N64) but had that large catalogue, you can't prove the "gameplay over graphics" arguement in more detail than that!

I would *strongly* disagree with that. Besides it's not really the graphics that matter as you say, it's the gameplay. I don't want to buy hundreds of games, I just want a core few that are rather quite good, and the xbox supplies that. Not to mention xbox live which is just so much better than the ps2 offering it ain't funny. Then you have the hard drive . . . neither of these things has anything to do with graphics. I'm having a 16 player link up of halo, I'd like to see any other console out there now do the same - I can see it doesn't for many, but the xbox simply offers more of what I want compared to the ps2.
Compare the ps2 and xbox line ups this year....

I don't understand why people think it's all X-Box & PS2 I personally think the NGC is better than both those consoles....unfortunatly sales aren't too hot for the GC....hopefully they'll pick up when some of these exclusives come out :-)

gamecube is great if you like 1st party nintendo titles.. bt I dnt.. I dnt mean to ignore it out right just... hmmm I dunno it doesn't really seem to be trying hard to get customers, happy enough plodding along sales wise. If you like it, you like it and I'm not even gonna try and argue with that ;)

considering the time of release, that's not really very impressive at all. Sony's cell tecnology is just empty hype leaving ps2 fans to fill in the blanks - just like they did with the emotion engine (which was a great idea, but just does shit all in practice)
