i tryd 2get a bash for about 80people but had so much trouble findin a venue we gave in, it was for my birds b-day, of all things, she wanted a rave!! no village hall or local club with a music licence would take us. each 1 had a different excuce. i aint knockin the idea of startin raves cuz i think the more people exposed to hardcore would increce the number of record sales etc, but all im sayin is that a house party will struggle to replicate the same experiance as a rave. any body ges summut goin round yorkshire way let me know! i think yorkshire needs it!
oh s*it man, what was i saying?

I would love to make the first hardcore cruise at one of these, and making enough money to break even wouldnt be "that" hard, mainly coz there would be potential customers in finland and sweden, but i would need soooo much starting money, that making it happen, i would first have to win from the lotterie

Most of the HappyHardcore scene around Barnsley is in the Schools unfortunatly...
apart from that club Heaven & Hell in the town centre plays Happy Hardcore for the last 3 songs downstairs on Friday nights...(Fountain Of Knowledge I am)

Not too much going on in the way of big parties around Chicago. There is a strong 21 and up house and trance scene. We are seeing regular visits from DJ's such as Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, Paul Van Dyke, etc.
There is also still a thriving drum & bass scene, with venues being sold out to the likes of Dieselboy, Hype, Andy C, etc.
It seems like there are tons of hardcore fans in the area, but still no representation at the full scale events. There are always small outlaw parties here and there, with hardcore DJ's (including yours truly) being invited to play.

Get a $5 boombox from your local flea market, a bonkers cd and you're set :) A party doesn't have to have $10.000 worth of strobes & lights and special effects equipment to be a f*ck load of fun. I think, from experience - bigger is cool, but smaller is more fun. The keyword is improvise! :)

Brisbane
Me and my mates, we are all fellow D J's haha (quote) and slowly but sure we have been building hardcore into our monthly rave System 6. We even have our own room, which has increasing numbers every event. Hardcore is pushing the boundaries in brisbane and on most occasions Hardcore finishes the night on the mainstage to about 3000 peps. It may not be happy hardcore, but i am working on that atm! Ardcore 4ever!

WEll, the boombox wouldn't be a problem, the bonkers cd on the other hand could be the thing that kills me .
And the fact that I don't like partying alone, ofcourse.

For the Bonkers CD, try www.proxis.be (a little expensive though)
But the lack of fellow happy hardcore fans will still be a problem...

Slynx, this one's for you babe! You really got me thinking about our Bris Vegas scene!
As a new member to this forum here's how I see my happy slice of heaven.
I have attended almost every System 6 event for quite some time now. We are so lucky in Brisbane to have so much talent appear under one roof from month to month. Our local DJs are incredible & can mix it with the visiting big guns, some considered the best.
On a slight deviation - I personally thought Seventy Seven should've played the 3 hour set instead of Ultrasonic. His Freeform set was the ultimate indulgence & made it an unforgettably wicked night! May the depths of hell open up & swallow me whole tomorrow for my last comment should anyone disagree.
I feel we are very fortunate & extremely lucky to have such a wonderful RAVE scene in Brisbane. We have so many things to be thankful for, such as:
No underage kiddies attending our events, thankfully due to tight security enforcing an Only 18's & over + no ID no Entry policy. Or so I believe!
We get to hear & see some of the most awesome local, national and international talent, and there is always sweet sweet music (d00f d00f d00f) to cater for all tastes.
We have SO MUCH COLOUR - I mean damn don't our people wear some of the funkiest shit! We have massive COLOUR with laser lights, glow sticks, flashing logos, whistles, dummies, chuppa chups & pacifers (*ooh rrr .... flash back happening now*), funky wild hair styles / clothes / shoes / jewelry, glitter & body paint/gel, and all this adds to the ambience. You can see the entire spectrum of a rainbow & go totally nutz at the same time!
Fellow ravers are incredibly friendly, polite, & always . No-one cares what you look like & are only concerned that you're having the best time! You are accepted as you are, no matter what your state of being - straight, gob-smacked, wired, you name it.
I find it fascinating that fellow ravers look out for one another both on & off the dance floor. I mean the humanity is bloody fantastic & gives you warm gooey emotions! I wanna hug!!!
And when we dance, its hard, fast and furious - non relenting. We love a good stomp! We madly tear up the dance floor.
We love our RAVES - which can always be enjoyed with or without majik rugs! I personally think our local scene kicks ass compared to other parts of Australia, let alone the world. We are quite Un1Qu3 and I love it!
The following comments are provided as BRAIN FOOD for underage ravers & are not provided as a deliberate attempt to atagonise:
Let me make it clear - I'm NOT saying underage people shouldn't attend RAVES! Music should be accessible for everyone to enjoy! However, I am saying if you ain't 18, stay away coz drug-f***ed people are & scared of you. Underage people on majik rugs at RAVES can spoil the nite's majik! Sometimes you bubs require babysitting & this adds to the risk of our events being halted permanently by the establishment (law). Now if I wanted to babysit I'd have become a nanny! How would you feel babysitting me as a geriatric at a RAVE!
Yes by all means enjoy the music, yes enjoy the atmosphere, and most of all enjoy the experience with friends - but keep the RAVE scene alive by doing the right thing & don't ruin it for the rest of us. Raves are already under enuff scruitiny without people making the problem worse!
More to the point if you wanna live be an ol' skool raver with your wits in tact ... RAVE SAFE ... try it without your magical powers, even if just for a little while!!!
To all those poor bastards out there in the big wide world, that don't have diddly-squat, sweet F**K bugger-me all RAVE scene happening in your neck of the woods, I truly & immensely feel great sorrow for you. Why not plan a holiday, & come to Brisbane city, majikal land of Oz & live the System 6 experience. You certainly won't regret it!
Slynx, to you & your Systo crew - keep up the fantastic job you're all doing.
Enuff chopped codshit from me ... wishing you all inner peace & loads of majikal musik.

We do have a house, techno, dnb and trance-scene. But those things are large commercial events 'n shit 'n I hate 'em.
!GABBER 4 LIFE!
Granted that the house & techno scene are very commercial here, and that goes for the big flemish trance/dance scene as well.
However, there is a very undeground part of the Drum & Bass scene as well as for psy trance. Goa parties are probably the most underground parties we even have! The electro/punk scene, the electronica scene, & the experimental scene are also kept very underground. And yeah, the gabber parties are all run by skins in Belgium.

I would proberly totally disregaurd lunchbox's post the Sydney rave scene DOES NOT suck this is due "Back in the Day phoebia" The rave scene here is better then ever.

True.. But i remeber when i was u18 I was attracted to rave for fun, Drugs
wasn't the first thing to slip to my mind. Most common age of ravers is 17-21.
quote: Originally posted by lunchbox:
The majority of them are over it and jaded, But continue to go everyweek and have a bad time..
Dosnt make sence, i'd hate to go out knowing im gunna have a bad time everytime
you get fights yes, But commonly at your Utopia's because of the widend range of different people. our regular raves involve 95% ravers.
quote: Originally posted by lunchbox:
We remember how parties used to be back in the day, And think yeah the party will be mad.. And keep on hoping that this will be the party with the mad vibe But it never happens.. 2/40 Parties i have been completely comfortable at.
Its called Back in the day phoebia, everyone gets it you bitch about shit changing as you get older because new generations come through, things change and its hard to take sometimes, its ok.. :p
.. as for being comfortable at partys if you have been to 40 partys and only been comforable at 2, maybe you should try something else raving may not be for you. Its not a clean drug free lazy boy chair, its more like a futon.:)
quote: Originally posted by lunchbox:
It's no longer a rave scene. It's just a drug scene..
Its always been a drug scene thats how it came about, thats how the music evolved people werent eating apples and sippin on Powerade Back in the day for their energy.
Speaking of rave scene how can you stand up to that statement we've had the likes of Scott Brown, Hixxy, Kevin Energy, Sharky, Breeze & Styles, Brisk, Storm, Marc Smith, Slipmatt, Public Domain, Ultra Sonic + more.. In the past YEAR! Plus a respected large number of hardcore dj's spinning every week.. Yeah and a rave every week too.. If not one weekend a hardcore club will be cracking for the ravers. Your in the wrong building buddy.
quote:
So yeah, I'm done with my rant.
Sweet..
